Mainstream materials for beer cans

Modern canned beer bottles are primarily made of two materials: Aluminum and steel. Aluminum cans are lightweight, portable, and rust-resistant, making them the preferred choice for most commercial beers; steel cans are more robust and durable, often used for special packaging or craft beers. Both have a thin, food-grade coating inside to prevent direct contact between the beer and metal, ensuring a pure taste.

Aluminum can advantages: lightweight, fast heat conduction (rapid chilling), 100% recyclable, lower production costs

Steel can characteristics: strong pressure resistance, good light-blocking properties (protecting beer from UV rays), diverse shapes

Environmental performance: Aluminum can be repeatedly recycled, with only 5% of the raw materials lost per recycling cycle

The material of the beer can directly affects the preservation effect. Aluminum cans have better sealing properties than glass bottles, better preventing oxygen from entering; while the light-blocking properties of steel cans prevent off-flavors caused by light exposure. Modern coating technology also prevents metallic tastes from seeping out, allowing the beer to maintain its original flavor for up to 12 months. Interestingly, canned beer has 30% lower carbon emissions than glass bottles, making it a more environmentally friendly choice.
